Someone says “write as soon as possible you review,or you’ll forget what happened”.Well,I don’t think so.This gig was so intense I’ll remember for a looong time every feeling I felt during my weekend in Rome!But let’s start from the beginning…
Kasabian are an alternative neo-psychedelic rock band from Leicester,England.I first saw them in far 2010 in Milan,as supporters for Muse,and I totally fell in love with their sound.I also fell with their lead singer who said a ‘fu*kin’ every 2 words!“Damn sexy rocker”,I thought!!Since then,I saw Kasabian only another time in 2011 during a festival in Bologna.
Di solito si pensa che,se non si scrive immediatamente tutto quello che ci è appena capitato,finiremo per dimenticarne i dettagli.Io non credo proprio.Questo concerto è stato talmente travolgente che ricorderò il mio weekend a Roma per moooolto tempo!Ma andiamo in ordine…
I Kasabian sono una band di Leicester,Inghilterra,che fa rock neo-psichedelico/alternativo.Mi sono imbattuta in loro nel 2010,quando hanno aperto un concerto dei Muse a Milano.Impossibile non restare colpita dal quel sound super coinvolgente!Per non parlare dell’amore a prima vista per quel cantante che ogni due parole diceva un ‘fu*kin’!“Ok,è strafigo” è stato il mio primo pensiero dopo appena 30 secondi da quando è salito sul palco!Da allora ho rivisto i Kasabian solo un’altra volta,nel 2011 ad un festival in quel di Bologna.

This year Kasabian have been touring to promote their new album 48:13 and I couldn’t miss their italian gig at any cost!I’m still in touch with my “gig-friend” Lisa(we met during a gig 2 years ago and since then we attended several gigs together)who’s a massive Kasabian fan,and planned our weekend in Rome.We took the train on thursday 30th October and arrived in the capital for dinner;after attending our friend Monica to arrive,we read on Facebook our beloved Kasabian’s singer,Tom Meighan,was at Hard Rock Café.We knew it was impossible he was still there but “we tried”.Took a taxi,running through the city streets and asking for him at the Hard Rock.He left.Damn!The girls persuaded me to wander through the bling 5* hotels asking if Kasabian were their guests.Of course we didn’t find them!Around midnight we finally arrived at hour hotel and,after a shower and a few hours nap,we were ready to queue outside the gig venue.

Quest’anno i ragazzi stanno facendo il tour promozionale per il loro nuovo album 48:13 ed io non potevo assolutamente perdere una delle loro date italiane!Perciò ho contattato la mia “amica dei concerti” Lisa(ci siamo conosciute un paio di anni fa ad un concerto e da allora siamo andate ad altri show insieme)che è una super fan dei Kasabian,e abbiamo organizzato l’intero weekend in trasferta nella capitale.Siamo partite nel pomeriggio del 30(Ottobre) ed una volta arrivate a Roma abbiamo aspettato l’arrivo del terzo membro della cricca,Monica.Subito dopo cena abbiamo letto su Facebook che il nostro amatissimo Tom Meighan(il cantante di cui sopra)era all’Hard Rock Cafè lì in città.Sapevamo che le nostre probabilità di incontrarlo ancora lì erano quasi nulle ma…ci abbiamo provato!Una folle corsa in taxi per le magnifiche strade di Roma,rese ancora più magiche dalle luci notturne.Arrivate trafelate all’Hard Rock abbiamo chiesto di lui ma…dannazione,se n’era già andato!Quelle matte delle mie amiche mi hanno convinta a girare per tutto il centro di Roma,chiedendo agli alberghi extra lusso a 5* se i Kasabian fossero loro ospiti.Inutile dire che non abbiamo cavato un ragno dal buco!Verso mezzanotte siamo arrivate finalmente in albergo e,dopo una doccia veloce ed un sonnellino di poche ore,già eravamo pronte a metterci in fila fuori il Palalottomatica.

Doors opened at 7pm,we arrived outside at 9am!10 hours queueing(luckily under a beautiful and warm sun.Strange for the end of October!)BUT we gained the front row just in front of our “Porn Tom”!Yes,you read right! LoL During our long-distance chats,me and the girls coined this nickname for Mr Meighan because of his sexy attitude.That’s why I printed a tank top with a youporn logo style writing “Tom Porn”.You cannot even imagine how embarrassing was asking into a room full of men to have this writing done with “that” artwork.Beyond imagination…
Anyway…the opening band were Pulled Apart by Horses,who entertained us with  alternative rock/metal songs.Not memorable,but I found really funny the singer who said “Today is Halloween.Sorry we’re not dressed up.Except for my “Jesus” look!” ahahahahah

Alle 9 eravamo già in fila…e le porte aprivano non prima delle 19!10 lunghissime ore di fila(fatte per fortuna sotto un magnifico sole,cosa stranissima per una giornata di fine Ottobre!) MA siamo riuscite a guadagnare l’agognatissima prima fila davanti al nostro “Porn Tom”!Si,avete letto bene!Durante le nostre lunghe chiacchierate via chat,io e le ragazze abbiamo coniato questo nomignolo per Mr Meighan perché(se non si fosse capito)il ragazzo ci fa sangue!Ahahahahah Ed è per questo che ho deciso di farmi stampare un top con la scritta ‘Tom Porn’ con la stessa grafica del logo di You Porn.Potete immaginare l’imbarazzo nel fare una richiesta del genere in un negozio grande 1x1m pieno di uomini che mi guardavano ad occhi sbarrati come per dire “coooosa???”.Che vergogna!
Ad ogni modo…la band che ha aperto la serata erano i Pulled Apart by Horses,con un repertorio rock/metal.A mio parere niente di che,ma ho apprezzato l’umorismo del cantante che,a fine esibizione,ha detto “Oggi è Halloween.Scusateci se non ci siamo mascherati…eccetto per il mio look “alla Gesù”!” ahahahahahah

Around 9:30pm Kasabian came out stage and we started jumpin’ up and down to the tune of Bumblebeee (probably my fav track of the new album),promptly followed by the hits Shoot the Runner(the song that made me love them in Milan back in the days),Underdog and Where did all the love go?.Tom and Sergio Pizzorno(the “Demiurgo” of Kasabian:singer,guitarist,songwriter,fu*king genius) cracked on the stage:the first with his sexy moves and faces;the second with his carisma and his foxy tail dangling from his trousers.AH!The show was a mix of old(but gold) pieces with the greatest part of the new album.The gem?Ghostbusters theme song!!I loved it!Perfect pick for Halloween!I think I probably sang and smiled o’er it 😀 And don’t forget the extra sweet Goodbye kiss,that launched Kasabian to italian masses (generally they don’t play this song in the other Countries…but italians are romantic,so they played it only for us!)
The only black mark?The pain of my body completely pressed against the barriers from the moshing crowd!But it’s the price you have to pay if you wanna go to this kind of gigs!I love mosh and I don’t blame people who enjoy themselves doing it 😉
After the gig(no,Tom didn’t see my tribute top 😦 )we waited 2hours outside the building near the exit,as every good fans(read stalkers)do;it was cold and we were reeeally tired,but we hold tight!At 2am Kasabian tourbus came out the gates:the guys greeted us from the inside while eating their dinner,but didn’t stopped.What a disappointment!We were like 20-30 people,waiting at the cold just for a pic or an autograph,but nothing!This thing pissed me off,but it’s ok,I understand.They had to go straight to Milan and,of course,they were really tired so…it’ll be for the next time guys!
Because they’ll come back…and I’ll be ready!

Alle 9:30 i Kasabian hanno fatto il loro ingresso sul palco e tutto il pubblico ha cominciato a saltare come in preda ad un’euforia incredibile al ritmo di Bumblebee (forse la mia traccia preferita del nuovo album),immediatamente seguita dalle hit Shoot the Runner(la canzone che a Milano me ne fece innamorare),Underdog e Where Did the Love Go?.Tom e Sergio Pizzorno(il “Demiurgo” dei Kasabian:cantante,chitarrista,compositore,fo*tuto genio)hanno cominciato a fare fuoco e fiamme sul palco:il primo con le sue mosse e facce sexy,il secondo con il suo carisma e una buffissima coda di volpe che penzolava dietro i pantaloni.AH!Lo show è stato un mix ben assortito di (ottimi) pezzi vecchi e nuovi.La perla della serata?La cover della canzone del film Ghostbusters!Stupenda!Una scelta più che azzeccata per Halloween!Credo di aver cantato con un sorriso a 32 denti per tutta la canzone 😀 Per non parlare della dolcissima Goodbye Kiss,che li ha finalmente consacrati al grande pubblico qui in Italia(negli altri Paesi non la suonano quasi mai,ma sanno che noi siamo un popolo di romanticoni e ce l’hanno fatta lo stesso!)
L’unica pecca della serata?Il dolore causatomi dallo schiacciamento del mio corpo contro le transenne,dovuto al pogo violento che c’è stato tutta la sera nel parterre!Ma è il prezzo che bisogna pagare se si vuole stare in prima fila a questo tipo di concerti!Adoro il pogo e non mi lamenterei mai delle persone che amano farlo! 😉
Dopo il concerto(no,Tom non ha visto la mia maglietta 😦 ) siamo state 2 ore ad aspettare i ragazzi fuori,da brave fan sfegatate(leggi stalkers);faceva freddo ed eravamo stanche morte,ma abbiam tenuto duro!I Kasabian sono usciti dai cancelli verso le due,a bordo del loro tourbus,da cui ci hanno salutato mentre cenavano,ma non si sono fermati.Che delusione!Saremmo state al massimo 20-30 persone ad aspettarli,al freddo,solo per una fotina o un autografo,ma niente!La cosa lì per lì mi ha alquanto innervosito,ma capisco.Stavano andando dritti dritti a Milano,per il concerto del giorno dopo,e di sicuro anche loro erano stanchissimi,quindi…fa niente.Sarà per la prossima!
Perché loro torneranno…ed io sarò pronta a qualsiasi follia per rivederli!
