Two gigs in 4 months.But I couldn’t miss this second Paolo Nutini show here in Italy!He’s one of my favourite songwriter and I’m the biggest fan of him since 2007.
So,you can only imagine what happened when after the gig…

Due concerti in quattro mesi.Ma non avrei mai potuto perdermi il secondo show di Paolo Nutini in Italia quest’anno!Lui è uno dei miei cantautori preferiti e credo di essere tra le sue fan più sfegatate dal 2007.
Quindi potete solo immaginare quando a fine concerto…

But let’s talk about the pre-show:horrible weather,long trip from Naples to Milan,rain,rain and guess what? RAIN.
Arrived in the afternoon outside the Assago Forum,I was soaked to the bone after less than 5 minutes.Impossible to queue outside the venue until doors open at 7pm.When I was lookin for a shelter I bumped into Dave Nelson(Paolo’s guitarist),who was easily walking under the pouring rain.Without an umbrella/hat/anything.These scotsmen!!!So I yelled him to take a selfie(above)and he kindly agreed.After a chitchat(in which I started to speculate Paolo was in the hotel right next the Forum,from where Dave was coming from)he left me to join the other guys for the soundcheck.

Ma parliamo del pre-show:tempo schifoso,un lunghissimo viaggio da Napoli a Milano,pioggia,pioggia e indovinate cosa?PIOGGIA.
Dopo neanche 5 minuti dal mio arrivo al Forum di Assago ero già inzuppata da testa a piedi.Praticamente impossibile mettersi in fila fino all’apertura dei cancelli,prevista per le 19.Mentre cercavo un riparo,mi sono fortuitamente imbattuta in Dave Nelson(il chitarrista di Paolo),che stava tranquillamente camminando come se niente fosse.Sotto la pioggia battente.Senza neanche un cappello/ombrello/niente.Ah questi scozzesi!!!Quindi ne ho approfittato per urlargli dietro se potevamo fare un selfie insieme(qui sotto)e lui ha cortesemente detto si.Dopo una breve chiacchierata(durante la quale io ho cominciato a ipotizzare che Paolo fosse nell’hotel lì vicino,dal quale Dave stava venendo)mi ha lasciato per andare a fare il soundcheck con gli altri ragazzi.

As this summer,The Rainband opened the soirée.I love these guys from Manchester:it’s not just about music(great with beautiful lyrics,by the way),it’s also about the bandmates.Such special,lovely and down to earth boys!Since last summer,I kept in touch with singer Martin Finnigan and I realized how a golden harted man he is!I did a flag with a quote of their song Rise Again,written in loving memory of Marco Simoncelli.They signed it,thanked me and then I also met Martin after the show for a chat

Come per quest’estate,la band di supporto erano i The Rainband.Adoro questi ragazzi di Manchester:non è solo una questione di musica(ottima,con bellissimi testi),ma di persone.Questi ragazzi sono davvero speciali,adorabili e con i piedi ben saldati a terra!Dalla scorsa estate,poi,mi sono tenuta in contatto col cantante Martin Finnigan e questa è stata la conferma di quanto sia un ragazzo dal cuore d’oro!Inoltre,avevo fatto uno striscione con una frase della loro canzone Rise Again,scritta in memoria di Marco Simoncelli.I ragazzi sono stati così carini da autografarmelo e ringraziarmi.Dulcis in fundo,dopo lo show mi sono anche ritrovata a fare quattro chiacchiere con Martin

And then it started.Scream.It’s just not how people reacted when Paolo came out of stage;it’s his first single from album Caustic Love and it’s the song he’s using to open the gigs.
The show alternated new songs with old classics:Alloway Grove,Jenny don’t be hasty,Candy.And a big surprise for us italian fans during the encore:Fred Buscaglione‘s Guarda che luna cover.Thrills and tears.And all the crowd sang along with Paolo.Amazing feelings running between all of us!
His voice is gravel and honey.Paolo talks about love,passion,family,happy times with friends.The lyrics are so real you feel you where with him when all those things happened.
The way Paolo talks about love makes you wish to fall in love…possibly with a romantic and good-looking  man like him! 😉

E diamo inizio alle danze.Scream.Non è stata solo la reazione del pubblico appena Paolo è uscito sul palco,ma è anche il primo singolo estratto dal suo ultimo capolavoro Caustic Love,e viene  usata per aprire tutti i suoi show.
Lo spettacolo ha visto alternarsi nuove canzoni con vecchi successi:Alloway Grove,Jenny don’t be hasty,Candy.Ma la grande sorpresa è arrivata durante il bis:la cover di Guarda che luna di Fred Buscaglione.Brividi e lacrime.E tutto il pubblico ha cominciato a cantare in coro con Paolo.Un fluire di grandi emozioni ha cominciato a unire tutti noi!
La sua voce è ghiaia e miele.Paolo parla di amore,passione,famiglia,del divertirsi con gli amici.I testi sono così realistici che è come se tu avessi assistito a quei momenti da lui cantati.
Ed il modo in cui Paolo parla dell’amore ti fa venire voglia di innamorarti…possibilmente di un uomo romantico e bello come lui! 😉

After the gig,I was not still recovered from all the overwhelming emotions that “it happened”.I MET HIM.I won’t lie,it was 70% luck and only 30% craziness(from me and a couple of new gig-friends).Paolo was with his beautiful model girlfriend and,even though it was almost 2am,he stopped by,had a chat,pics,autographs and smiles.A LOT of smiles.He truly is the spontaneous guy you see on tv or read in interviews.When it was my photo/autograph turn I was totally shaking and I couldn’t say anything except “thaks.great gig.I’m shaking,sorry”!But the emotion was so strong I forgot to say “you’re the love of my life and I can’t imagine my days without listening your voice and your songs!
That night will be marked in my mind and my heart forever.Thank you Paolo Nutini for “making me wanna be better”.

Dopo il concerto,non mi ero ancora ripresa da tutte quelle emozioni travolgenti che si erano impossessate di me,che “è successo”.L’HO INCONTRATO.Non mentirò,è stato un buon 70% di fortuna e solo un 30% di follia(da parte mia e delle mie due nuove amiche-da-concerto).Paolo era in compagnia della sua bellissima fidanzata modella e,sebbene fossero quasi le 2 di notte,si è fermato a scambiare quattro chiacchiere con noi,a fare foto,firmare autografi e dispensare sorrisi.UN SACCO di sorrisi.È davvero il ragazzo semplice che appare in tv e nelle interviste.Arrivato il mio momento foto/autografo ero talmente emozionata da tremare tutta,e da riuscire a dire solamente “grazie.grande concerto.scusa,sto tremando”!L’emozione è stata talmente grande che ho dimenticato di aggiungere “sei l’amore della mia vita e non riesco neanche ad immaginare di stare un giorno senza ascoltare la tua voce e le tue canzoni!”
Quella notte resterà per sempre nella mia mente e nel mio cuore.Grazie Paolo Nutini per “farmi voler essere una persona migliore”!
