Talented is talented.Young is young(he’s only 27 and he’s already considered one of the best songwriter since the ’70s).Beautiful…oh well,he’s even more that that!He’s Paolo Nutini and if you don’t know who I’m talking about,you really should google his name and listen to some of his songs on his youtube channel!
Paolo is a scottish guy with italian roots;he started his career at 16 when a manager noticed his peculiar and scratched voice,and sent him to London to record his first album “These Streets” which came out when he was 18.BOOM!Massive success all around the world with hits like New Shoes,Last Request and Rewind.Three years later,in 2009,with “Sunny Side Up” Paolo turned on his funky hint not forgetting his romantic spirit with amazing love songs(Candy sounds familiar?).Now it’s the turn of “Caustic Love”,third album came out after 5 years from the last one,which consacrated him as one of the best thing happened in music since decades!

Talento ne ha.Ad essere giovane è giovane(a soli 27 anni è già considerato uno dei migliori cantautori dagli anni ’70).Bello…oh be’,è molto più che bello!Il suo nome è Paolo Nutini e se non sai di chi sto parlando,dovresti cercare il suo nome ed ascoltare alcune delle sue canzoni sul suo canale youtube immediatamente!
Paolo è un ragazzo scozzese dalle origini italiane;ha cominciato la sua carriera musicale a soli 16 anni quando un manager ha notato la sua graffiante e particolarissima voce,e lo ha mandato direttamente a Londra per registrare il suo primo album “These Streets” che è uscito quando era appena maggiorenne.BOOM!Ha subito riscosso un immenso successo in tutto il mondo con hits come New Shoes,Last Request e Rewind.Tre anni dopo,nel 2009,con “Sunny Side Up” Paolo ha cacciato la sua vena funky senza dimenticare,però,il suo spirito romantico con stupende canzoni d’amore(Candy vi dice niente?).Adesso è il turno di “Caustic Love”,terzo album uscito dopo ben 5 anni dall’ultimo,che lo ha consacrato come una delle migliori cose successe in campo musicale da decenni!

I’ve always been a big big fan of Paolo.Love his songs and all their lyrics:they’re so deep and autobiographical but,at the same time,you can make his words/thoughts yours and connect ‘em to your personal experiences.
I’ve been waiting for this gig for months(as you may know from my latest posts! lol )because I always missed his past gigs in Italy because of my exams at university.But this year the show was on a saturday so…no excuses!I went to Rome on friday with my cousin to spend the entire weekend in the capital because it’s always a good idea a short trip to the eternal city,isn’t it?By the way,on saturday morning,after a yummy breakfast at a sicilian restaurant/cafè,I took my car and I drove to the Ippodromo delle Capannelle,where the Rock In Roma festival takes place every year(my last time was in June 2013 to see The Killers).It was 12 ‘o clock,so we were just around 30 people to start the queue and I was in pole position for the running for the front raw! 😀 I immediately made friends with a couple of guys who were there since 9 in the morning!wow!We spent  all day long chatting,building shelters from the sun with our umbrellas,philosophizing on Paolo’s life and songs,and just trying to know each other!
The wait was spasmodic,but around 6:30pm the doors opened and I started to run as Forrest Gump!Even though I run 3 or 4 times per week,the way to the main stage was incredibly long(did they confuse us with race horses!?!?)and I was collapsing just before reaching the stage,but I strongly kept going and finally arrived to the front row!Couldn’t believe my eyes! *.* Yes,maybe I was not in the middle of the stage,I was at the extreme right,in front of the bassist,but it was cool too!So many hours waiting and not wasted!

Sono sempre stata una super fan di Paolo.Adoro sia le canzoni che i loro testi:sono molto profondi ed autobiografici ma,allo stesso tempo,riesci a fare le sue parole/i suoi pensieri tuoi e a connetterli alle tue esperienze personali.
Aspettavo questo concerto da mesi(come puoi ben aver capito dai miei ultimi post! lol )perché non sono mai riuscita ad andare a nessuno dei suoi concerti qui in Italia a causa degli esami all’università.Ma quest’anno lo show era di sabato quindi…niente scuse!Sono partita per Roma con mia cugina venerdì pomeriggio,in moda da passare l’intero weekend nella capitale perché è sempre una buona idea fare un viaggetto nella città eterna,giusto?Ad ogni modo,sabato mattina,dopo una gustosissima colazione ad un bar/ristorante siciliano,ho preso la macchina e mi sono diretta all’Ippodromo delle Capannelle,dove ha luogo ogni anno il Rock in Roma(la mia ultima volta risale al Giugno del 2013 quando sono andata a vedere i Killers).Arrivata più o meno alle 12,ho trovato lì solamente un’altra trentina di persone per cominciare a mettersi in fila e subito mi son trovata in pole position per la corsa alla prima fila!Per fortuna ho fatto subito amicizia con un paio di ragazzi che stavano lì già dalle 9.wow!Abbiamo passato tutta la giornata a chiacchierare,costruirci ripari improrvvisati contro il sole con i nostri ombrellini,filosofeggiando sulla vita e le canzoni di Paolo e semplicemente conoscendo un po’ gli uni degli altri.
L’attesa è stata spasmodica,ma verso le 18:30 le porte si sono aperte ed io ho cominciato a correre come Forrest Gump!Sebbene vada a correre 3-4 volte a settimana,la strada per il palco principale era lunghissima(ci avranno forse scambiati per cavalli da corsa,vista la location!?!)e stavo per collassare giusto prima di arrivare al palco,ma ho sfruttato tutte le mie forze e ho continuato a correre fino a raggiungere la transenna della prima fila!Non potevo credere ai miei occhi! *.*
Si,forse non stavo al centro del palco ma più a destra,giusto davanti al bassista,ma era comunque perfetto!Le nostre fatiche erano state ripagate!

The opening band was The Rainband from Manchester,such cool kids with a carismatic singer who spoke(or tried at least)italian all the time.Great sounds and enchanting attitude,they played for about 1h making me jump and having good time.At the end of their performance a member of the group throw me a plastic bracelet with the name of the band and the phrase “With no faith there is no life”.Love it!!!

La band di supporto era i The Rainband di Manchester,dei ragazzi molto cool con un cantante super carismatico che ha parlato(o quantomeno ci ha provato)tutto il tempo in italiano.Ottime sonorità e modo di fare coinvolgente,hanno suonato per un’oretta facendomi saltare e divertire tantissimo.Alla fine della loro performance un membro del gruppo mi ha lanciato un braccialetto di plastica con il nome della band e la scritta “With no faith there is no life”(Senza fiducia non c’è vita).Lo adoro!!!

Paolo started his show around 10pm and it was a blast!Powerful voice,dance moves during the funky songs,melancholy during the ballads;he doesn’t speak very much(it’s quite a shy guy)but he wanted to let us know that his mum and dad were there to see him and thanked ‘em.Such a nice man!♥
His legendary band,The Vipers,are an 8 pieces group of very talented musicians but,above all,friends.Paolo and The Vipers have been together since his startings and it’s such a cool thing they’re friends for real!At the end of the gig I met the drummer Jay Sikora;asked him for a pic, he’s been super cute not only taking the pic with me but also starting a small chat.He told me Paolo loves Italy very much and he’s always happy to come back everytime he can(and he also speaks italian,but I don’t think he can very well tho! :D).Jay told me they passed 2 days visiting Rome and he loved it very much!Then we talked about the next tour dates(they’ll come back to Milan this November…I’m already there in my mind!)and after 10 minutes he left looking for a friend.Such a nice and down-to-earth kid 🙂 He also greeted me remembering my name!
The gig was perfect:Paolo has an incredible voice,the music was great,people(for the most women,because…you know…the guy is pretty HANDSOME ♥_♥)relaxed and friendly.Really a nice experience!
I repeat,if you don’t know this Paolo Nutini yet,please take a look to his works!Totally worths it!!!

Paolo ha cominciato il suo spettacolo intorno alle 22 ed è stato uno sballo!Voce potente,qualche mossa di danza durante le canzoni più funky,melanconico durante le ballate romantiche;sebbene non parli molto(il ragazzo è un po’ timido)ha voluto farci sapere che i suoi genitori erano lì per vederlo e li ha ringraziati.Che tenero!♥
La sua band storica,The Vipers,è composta da 8 musicisti molto talentuosi che sono in primis buoni amici tra di loro.Paolo e i Vipers stanno insieme dagli esordi dello scozzese ed è una gran bella cosa,secondo me,che siano amici anche nella vita di tutti i giorni!Alla fine del concerto ho incontrato il batterista Jay Sikora;gli ho chiesto una foto e lui è stato carinissimo,non solo fermandosi per farla,ma anche trattenendosi a scambiare quattro chiacchiere.Mi ha detto che Paolo adora l’Italia ed è sempre contento di tornarci ogni volta che può(ha anche aggiunto che parla italiano,ma non penso che in realtà lo sappia più di tanto! :D).Jay mi ha anche detto che hanno trascorso 2 giorni a visitare Roma e che l’ha adorata!Poi siamo finiti a parlare delle prossime date del tour(torneranno a Milano questo Novembre…io già sto lì!)e dopo 10 minuti si è congedato per cercare un amico.Che ragazzo simpatico e alla mano 🙂 Quando mi ha salutato si ricordava addirittura il mio nome!
Il concerto è stato perfetto:Paolo ha una voce da brividi,la musica era di gran qualità,il pubblico(femminile per lo più,perché…be’…il ragazzo è piuttosto BELLOCCIO e questo potrebbe anche bastare ♥_♥)era tranquillo e amichevole.È stata davvero una bella esperienza!
Mi ripeto,per chi ancora non conoscesse Paolo Nutini,vi prego date un’occhiata al suo materiale!Ne vale davvero la pena!!!
